Kitchen Deep Clean Checklist: The 12-Point Process We Follow
No guessing what "deep clean" actually means. Here's the real step-by-step process, in order.
"Kitchen deep clean" is a phrase that gets used loosely — some companies mean a quick wipe-down with a fancier name, others mean a genuine top-to-bottom job. Here's exactly what our process covers, step by step, so you know precisely what's included before you book.
- Initial assessment. We look at the kitchen's condition first — grease buildup level, appliance state, any specific problem areas — before starting, so the crew knows what they're dealing with.
- Clear and prep surfaces. Countertops and stovetop cleared of loose items so every surface is fully accessible.
- Extractor hood and filter treatment. This is usually the single greasiest area in any kitchen — treated with degreaser strong enough to cut through baked-on residue.
- Stovetop degreasing. Grates, burner heads, and the surface around them — an area that builds up fast and is often only surface-wiped in regular cleaning.
- Backsplash and wall tiles. Grease doesn't stay on the stovetop — it travels onto nearby walls and tile grout, which gets treated as part of the same pass.
- Appliance exteriors. Fridge, oven, microwave — all cleaned and degreased on the outside as standard.
- Cabinet exteriors. Fronts and handles, where grease and hand residue accumulate over weeks without always being visible.
- Counters and sink. Full sanitisation, not just a surface wipe — this includes descaling around the sink where hard water leaves buildup.
- Light switches and handles. High-touch points that rarely get proper attention in day-to-day cleaning.
- Floor. Cleaned last, once everything above it is done — no point mopping before the rest of the mess has been dealt with.
- Final wipe-down and inspection. A pass to catch anything missed before we consider the job complete.
- Extras, if requested. Inside cupboards, inside the oven, inside the fridge, or the store/pantry — these aren't part of the base process but can be added if you mention them when booking.
Why the Order Matters
This isn't an arbitrary sequence — cleaning top-down and grease-first means nothing gets re-dirtied by a step that comes after it. A kitchen cleaned floor-first, then degreased, ends up with grease residue back on the floor by the time the job's done. The order is part of what makes a deep clean actually thorough rather than just a checklist ticked in a random sequence.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the full 12-step process take?
Depends on kitchen size and buildup level — we give an accurate time estimate once we've assessed the space, not before.
Do you clean inside the oven as standard?
No — that's an extra. Mention it when booking and we'll include it in your quote.
Is the process different for a lightly-used vs. heavily-used kitchen?
The steps stay the same, but a heavily-used kitchen with more grease buildup takes longer at each step, particularly the extractor hood and stovetop.
